How to create content types in SharePoint 2013.
Content types in SharePoint define the type of data stored on your SharePoint site. They help to store information about an item, add properties like metadata or template and filter content inside lists or libraries by a content type. Content types are created on the top level site and can be used on all subsites below it. You may consider to create a content type if you need to add to items more information than the default content type requires and find it time-consuming to add additional columns to every library.
