How to create page layouts in SharePoint 2013.
One of the greatest features of SharePoint publishing sites is the ability to define and control strict look and feel of the SharePoint pages using content layouts. Each publishing page is based on a page layout, which in its turn is based on a content type. And a content type consists of a number of site columns. Content type allows to define field controls that the page layout can use when this content type is associated with the Pages library.
