How to work with templates in SharePoint 2013.
SharePoint provides a number preconfigured templates and the option to create a custom ones to create sites. If have a customized site that was modified to meet specific needs of your organization and you want to create more sites with the same settings, you do not need to customize new sites from the scratch. You can save your site as template either with content or without it and them use this template to create as many site with the same configuration as you need. This feature is also handy when you need to move your site to another SharePoint farm, custom templates are created in .wsp format and can be deployed as sandbox solution to the external farm.
